A Secure Basic Salary with Strong Earning Potential

O’Neil Gas is looking for an ambitious, customer-focused Technical Boiler Sales Advisor to manage our domestic boiler sales process and help grow one of the fastest-developing areas of the business.

The role offers a guaranteed £34,000 basic salary, giving you financial security from day one, with realistic earnings of £52,000+ through strong performance.

This is not a low-basic, unrealistic-commission role. You will receive a solid salary, a bonus on every boiler sold and a consistent supply of genuine customer enquiries.

A Commission Structure that Rewards Performance

Our commission scheme uses a clear tiered structure.

  • You will receive a set bonus for every completed boiler sale.
  • As your performance increases, you progress through the tiers and earn more per boiler.
  • Strong performance is rewarded twice:
    • Commission on every completed sale.
    • A higher payment per boiler as sales increase.

The structure rewards consistency, ambition and strong customer service, giving high performers a genuine opportunity to progress through the tiers and increase their earnings.

All Sales Leads are Provided

You will not be expected to cold call, prospect or generate your own appointments. All sales leads are provided.

Established for 31 years, O’Neil Gas is one of the best-known heating businesses in central and southwest Scotland. Our reputation, customer base and marketing investment generate a strong flow of boiler enquiries, supported by a professional pipeline using Bigin and HubSpot.

Our experienced marketing team promotes the company through digital advertising, online search, customer campaigns and other channels.

There are plenty of opportunities for the right salesperson. Your focus will be responding quickly, building trust, recommending the right solution and converting genuine enquiries.

Join an Established Family Business Investing in Growth

O’Neil Gas is a family-owned company that has been trading successfully for 31 years.

Today, the business:

  • Employs 22 people.
  • Generates annual turnover of approximately £2.5 million.
  • Continues to grow year after year.
  • Has an established and respected name throughout Ayrshire and Scotland’s Central Belt.
  • Has a substantial existing customer base and completes around 14,000 jobs per year.
  • Invests heavily in marketing and lead generation.
  • Is experiencing strong growth within its domestic boiler installation division.

We combine the friendly, supportive and close-knit culture of a family business with the stability, resources and career opportunities of a successful and growing company.

Our domestic boiler sales division has become one of the fastest-growing areas of the business, and we are looking for the right person to help us build on that success.

More than Another Sales Position

This is not simply a role where you will be handed a target and left to get on with it.

You will take ownership of the domestic boiler sales journey, work closely with an experienced operational and engineering team, and have the opportunity to influence how our sales department develops.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You will be joining a successful business with a strong reputation, an excellent marketing operation and a steady supply of qualified customer opportunities.

For the right person, the role offers a clear pathway to become our future Sales Manager and help build and lead a larger team as the company expands.

  • A consultative salesperson able to develop the necessary technical knowledge.

Gas, heating or boiler experience is highly advantageous, although we would consider candidates with strong sales ability, the right attitude and a desire to build a long-term career with us.

The Role

You will manage the customer journey from initial enquiry and home appointment through to quotation, follow-up, sale and installation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and recommending suitable boiler and heating solutions.
  • Explaining technical options clearly.
  • Providing honest advice without high-pressure sales techniques.
  • Preparing accurate, professional and competitive quotations.
  • Following up enquiries professionally.
  • Converting qualified customer enquiries into sales.
  • Managing your pipeline and customer records.
  • Working closely with our office, survey, operations and installation teams.
  • Delivering an excellent customer experience from enquiry to installation.
  • Developing customer relationships and generating recommendations and referrals.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve our sales systems, quotations and customer journey.
  • Contributing ideas that increase conversion rates and business growth.
  • Helping develop the sales department as boiler installation volumes increase.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in technical, consultative or solution-based sales.
  • Can build trust and communicate confidently with homeowners.
  • Is commercially driven but always puts the customer first.
  • Can explain technical information clearly.
  • Is comfortable attending appointments in customers’ homes.
  • Has strong quotation, negotiation, follow-up and closing skills.
  • Can manage multiple enquiries and opportunities.
  • Responds quickly and professionally to new leads.
  • Takes responsibility for sales performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Is motivated by the opportunity to progress through the commission tiers.
  • Wants to contribute ideas and improve the sales process.
  • Is interested in progressing into a Sales Manager position.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence.

Experience in gas boilers, heating, plumbing, renewables, construction, property services or home improvements would be advantageous.

We understand that people have different family commitments and personal circumstances. Wherever operationally possible, we give employees flexibility and choice when arranging annual leave.

Why Join O’Neil Gas?

For 31 years, O’Neil Gas has built its reputation through quality workmanship, honest advice and dependable customer service.

Although we have grown into a £2.5 million business employing 22 people, we have retained the personal and supportive culture of a family-run company.

Our employees are known as individuals, good ideas can be acted upon quickly, and strong performance is noticed and rewarded.

You will have the security of a £34,000 basic salary, while our tiered commission structure gives you a genuine opportunity to increase your earnings as your performance develops.

You will not need to find your own leads. Our established reputation, large customer base and experienced marketing team generate a steady supply of genuine boiler enquiries.

This allows you to concentrate on advising customers, providing the right heating solution and converting opportunities into sales.

The successful candidate will be joining at an important stage in our development. Our boiler installation division is growing quickly, and this person will have the opportunity to become a central part of that growth.
