Technical Business Analyst
Responsibilities
- Capture, analyse, elaborate, and document both functional and technical requirements originating from multiple channels including: Ascot business users, problems arising in production (via AM production support team), AM continuous improvement and application maintenance and and Tech-refresh/security and change initiatives, as well as from the Ascot change portfolio, for delivery by the Syndicate Application Management development team.
- Prepare backlog items in Initiative/Epic/Feature/User Story format, working in close collaboration with the Syndicate AM Solution Architect, Scrum-master/Release manager and AM Developers and testers, and help to facilitate and contribute to regular backlog refinement sessions.
- Ensure alignment with Ascot Syndicate delivery vision, architecture, and design, enabling faster decision-making and smooth sprint execution.
- Support the AM Test Manager and AM Testers with test scoping, acceptance criteria, test case specification, and defect triage and analysis.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of system processes and configurations as required.
- Translate business needs into technically feasible user stories and acceptance criteria. Also actively participate in design discussions, assess technical impacts, and support solution decisions with Technical leads, Architects and developers.

Skills/Experience
- Good understanding of Insurance domain, systems architecture and software engineering fundamentals; good working knowledge of Azure Cloud computing.
- Ability to understand application architecture, integrations, data flows, APIs, batch processing, and loosely coupled systems to enable sound technical decision-making.
- Strong analytical mindset; the ability to break down requirements and problems into deliverable units.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using popular backlog management tools including Azure DevOps as well as Knowledge Management platforms including Confluence and SharePoint wiki.
- Has worked as part of an Agile delivery team, ideally using Scrum.
- Practical experience working with Microsoft technologies including.NET and Azure including Azure App Service.

Preferred Skills
- Background/prior experience working as a software developer or Architect is a significant plus.
- Experience working as an Analyst on delivery onto the Azure public cloud.
- Experience working as a technical Product Owner/ Proxy Product Owner.
- Holds a Scrum certification with hands-on experience in Agile delivery environments.
- Holds a relevant BA or Systems Analyst certification.
- Experience with UML (Unified Modelling Language).
