Job Title: Technical Business Analyst

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Technical Business Analyst to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 3-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Manchester.

We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Technical Business Analyst to act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of gathering, analysing, and documenting requirements from a broad and diverse range of stakeholders, translating business needs into clear functional and non-functional requirements and user stories.

This role requires a strong understanding of technology, software development lifecycles, and enterprise systems, including ERP platforms. The Technical BA will work closely with Developers, Product Owners, Project Managers, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions are successfully designed and delivered.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit, analyse, validate, and document business requirements from a wide range of stakeholders across multiple business functions.
  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and discovery sessions to gather detailed functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Create high-quality user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, use cases, and business requirements documentation.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications that can be effectively understood and actioned by development teams.
  • Partner closely with Developers, Architects, Product Owners, and Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support the design and implementation of new systems, software solutions, and ERP platforms.
  • Analyse existing business processes and identify opportunities for improvement, optimisation, and automation.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to clarify requirements, resolve ambiguities, and support solution design activities.
  • Assist with backlog management, prioritisation, and sprint planning activities within Agile delivery environments.
  • Support testing activities, including reviewing test cases, validating business outcomes, and assisting with User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Ensure delivered solutions meet agreed business objectives and stakeholder expectations.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
