Technical Business Analyst

Location: London

Overview

A London-based financial services organisation is seeking a Technical Business Analyst to support technology and business change initiatives. The role sits at the intersection of business analysis, software development, systems implementation, and stakeholder management, helping translate business requirements into technical solutions while contributing hands-on development and automation work.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Solution Design

  • Gather, analyse, and document business requirements from key stakeholders.
  • Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications and solution designs.
  • Conduct impact assessments and workflow analysis across systems and business processes.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to develop solutions aligned with existing architecture and infrastructure.
  • Act as a key liaison between business users and technical delivery teams.

Development & Automation

  • Design and develop scripts, automation tools, and end-user computing solutions to improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop, test, and maintain software applications and utilities using Python and related technologies.
  • Review code quality, identify defects, and implement fixes where required.
  • Support software deployment, releases, and implementation activities.

Technical Support & Systems Delivery

  • Troubleshoot application and software issues across business-critical systems.
  • Work closely with infrastructure, desktop support, and network teams to ensure successful end-to-end delivery.
  • Perform SQL-based data analysis and support API testing activities.
  • Validate technical feasibility and collaborate with architects and developers on solution design.
  • Provide support for incidents and critical system issues, including occasional out-of-hours support where required.

Requirements

Experience

  • 3-6 years of experience in technical business analysis, software development, application support, or related technology roles.
  • Experience working within complex enterprise environments, ideally within financial services or regulated organisations.

Technical Skills

  • Strong Python development skills.
  • Solid SQL and database knowledge.
  • Experience with system analysis, process mapping, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Familiarity with APIs, software testing, and application delivery lifecycles.

Personal Attributes

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and managing multiple priorities.

Education

  • Degree educated or equivalent professional experience.
