Technical Business Analyst
Our leading Investment Management client is seeking a Technical Business Analyst to work on a long-term contract basis.
Scope
The work runs from definition through to published reporting. It is an analysis and delivery role working alongside data engineers, platform engineers, and the teams whose work is being measured.
Definitions
- Draft the precise definitions the measure set depends on, working with the owners to get them agreed and published: what counts as a human intervention on a change, how consumption costs from several sources are normalised into a single comparable figure, and where the boundary sits between the cost of building software and the cost of running it.
- Resolve competing figures already in circulation, establishing a single agreed baseline for each measure and restating history against it.
- Document each measure so that two people calculating it independently arrive at the same number, including its baseline date and its known limitations.
- Define the reporting hierarchy that everything is cut by, and validate it against how the business actually describes itself.
- Translate the agreed measure set into a published reporting product, working with the data engineers building the underlying pipelines.
- Work with teams across the engineering function to roll the capture out, so that coverage is complete rather than a willing sample.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
