Technical Business Analyst
London | £55,000 - £60,000 + Benefits | 12-Month FTC
Are you a Technical Business Analyst, Application Support Analyst, Systems Analyst or technically minded Business Analyst looking to develop your career within a banking and fintech environment?
My client, a well-established international bank based in London, is seeking a Technical Business Analyst to join its growing Fintech team. This is an excellent opportunity to work at the intersection of business and technology, supporting critical banking systems while contributing to automation, process improvement and digital transformation initiatives.
This role would suit someone who enjoys gathering requirements, solving technical problems, analysing data, and developing practical solutions using Python and SQL.
The Role
As a Technical Business Analyst, you will act as the key link between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring business requirements are effectively translated into technical solutions. You will also play an active role in automation, application support, data analysis and testing activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyse and document business requirements, translating them into detailed technical specifications.
- Conduct impact assessments, workflow analysis and solution design activities.
- Act as the primary liaison between business users, developers, infrastructure teams and external stakeholders.
- Develop Python scripts and automation tools to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Perform SQL-based data analysis, reporting and data validation activities.
- Support application testing, system upgrades and software releases.
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve application and software-related issues.
- Collaborate closely with Infrastructure, Network and Desktop Support teams to deliver end-to-end technology solutions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities for automation and process optimisation.

About You
We're looking for someone who combines strong analytical thinking with a hands-on technical skillset.
Essential Skills & Experience
- 3-6 years' experience in a Technical Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, Application Support Analyst, Technical Support, Data Analyst or similar role.
- Strong Python scripting skills, with experience developing automation tools and utilities.
- Solid SQL skills, including data extraction, analysis and troubleshooting.
- Experience gathering and documenting business and technical requirements.
- Knowledge of software development lifecycles, system integrations and testing methodologies.
- Experience working with databases, APIs and enterprise applications.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable
- Experience within banking, financial services or fintech environments.
- Exposure to payment systems, regulatory projects or financial applications.
- Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies.
- Experience supporting business-critical applications.
