Technical Business Analyst – AI & Automation

Salary: Up to £61,000 per annum

Contract: Full-time, 12-month FTC, with possibility of extension

Location: London – hybrid working, two days a week in the office

Our prestigious client is seeking a Technical Business Analyst to join a growing AI and automation programme within a complex enterprise systems environment.

Working alongside business stakeholders, product owners and engineers, you'll help shape solutions spanning AI agents, systems integration and process automation. The programme is supported by a cloud-native Microsoft Azure platform, offering the opportunity to work on projects that improve everyday operations through practical uses of technology.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can understand business challenges, engage confidently in technical discussions and translate requirements into clear specifications. You'll stay involved from initial discovery through to delivery and ongoing improvement.

  • Lead discovery sessions and workshops to understand business needs, challenge assumptions and identify opportunities for automation.
  • Map current and future processes, highlighting manual steps, inefficiencies and the impact of proposed changes.
  • Capture, document and prioritise functional and non-functional requirements, producing clear briefs for engineering teams.
  • Work with system and data owners to define integration requirements, including APIs, events, data flows and contracts between systems.
  • Shape AI use cases, defining expected agent behaviour, required knowledge sources and criteria for evaluating outputs.
  • Collaborate with engineers to assess feasibility, risks and solution options.
  • Support Agile delivery, write acceptance criteria and help stakeholders validate completed solutions.

About You

  • Substantial experience as a Business Analyst or Technical Business Analyst delivering technology-led change within a complex enterprise systems environment.
  • Strong requirements gathering and process mapping skills, alongside a sound understanding of APIs, event-driven architectures and asynchronous integration patterns.
  • Experience working with system and data owners is essential, supported by an understanding of authentication, identity and data classification.
  • A confident communicator, comfortable facilitating workshops, engaging senior stakeholders and managing competing priorities across multiple projects in an Agile environment.
  • Experience with AI agents, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure would be advantageous, as would familiarity with information governance and regulated environments.
