At Prestwick Service Centre we are specialists in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft engine nacelles systems and engine components. An opportunity has arisen for a Technical Buyer to join our Supply Chain team. We require experienced individuals who will contribute to our success, whilst upholding our reputation as a leading provider of quality MRO services with our European and Middle Eastern customers.
What you will do:
Working within a product focused Business Unit, you will be responsible for all aspects of procurement to ensure timely acquisition of parts, services, and materials to meet operational requirements. This will include:
- Creation, approval and expediting of supplier PO’s to ensure continuity of parts, services and materials from Business Unit suppliers.
- Proactive management of safety stock levels to ensure downtime is prevented and inventory levels are maintained in line with agreed safety stock levels.
- Provide accurate forecasts of parts and materials to suppliers.
- Efficient purchase order management to ensure order status is being updated and delivery schedules are being achieved.
- Liaise with Business Unit to accurately forecast monthly spend and report on any variances in month.
- Evaluate supplier quotes and services to ensure competitive pricing is being achieved.
- Liaise with Business Unit to communicate any critical shortages and ensure any appropriate solutions are being proactively sought.
- Prepare and Issue Supplier Balanced Scorecards monthly.
- Chair formal QBR’s with suppliers and drive performance improvements through KPI’s and structured action logs.
- Participate in negotiations of long-term service agreements with suppliers.
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures including EH&S, Code of Ethics, Intellectual Property, and Global Trade.

What you must have:
- Proven track record as a Buyer, with strong vendor management experience, in a fast-paced environment (aerospace experience advantageous but not essential).
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build excellent internal and external stakeholder relationships at all levels.
- Expertise in using an ERP system (SAP preferred).
- Highly self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong negotiation, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints.
- Must have excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Knowledge and experience of Continuous Improvement Processes preferred.
- Microsoft Office computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Travel requirements <10% (UK & International)
- CIPS qualified would be advantageous but not essential
