Company Description

Instance is building an intelligence layer for personalised health, integrating biological, behavioural, and environmental data into a dynamic view of individual wellbeing.

The company helps people and organizations move beyond isolated metrics toward continuous, actionable health intelligence. Grounded in systems science and longitudinal measurement, Instance focuses on understanding how complex health factors interact over time. Its mission is to create a future where prevention is personalised, health is observable, and better decisions happen earlier. This is an opportunity to join an early-stage team shaping the technical foundations of this vision.

Role Description

As a Technical Co-founder at Instance, you will lead the design and development of core product architecture, data pipelines, and analytics infrastructure in a part-time capacity.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • You will work on integrating diverse health-related data sources, building scalable systems for longitudinal measurement, and collaborating on algorithms that generate meaningful insights for users and partners.
  • Day-to-day, you will collaborate closely with non-technical founders on product strategy, translate customer and research needs into technical roadmaps, and prioritize features that deliver measurable value.
  • You will also establish engineering best practices, contribute to technical hiring decisions, and help shape the company’s technology vision and culture.

This is a remote role for a company based in the Greater Oxford Area, requiring close collaboration with the founding team.

  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Research skills to stay current with systems science, health data methodologies, and emerging technologies relevant to personalized health.
  • Proven experience building and scaling data-intensive or AI-driven products, ideally in healthtech or a related domain.

  • Ability to make architectural decisions under uncertainty, iterate quickly, and own end-to-end delivery of technical solutions.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, comfort with early-stage start-up environments, and commitment to on-site collaboration in the Greater Oxford Area.
