Technical Co-Founder / Founding CTO

Consumer Fintech | London / Greater London | Founder Equity

This is a genuine Co-Founder / Shareholder pre-seed opportunity not a salaried employment position.

We are supporting the Founder of an early-stage consumer fintech business (mobile app) in finding a hands-on Technical Co-Founder / Founding CTO to take ownership of the technology and help build the company from its current bootstrapped stage through launch, funding and ultimately full-time operation.

This is an opportunity for an experienced software engineer who wants to move beyond a conventional engineering role and become a founder and shareholder, with meaningful influence over the product, technology and future direction of the business.

The Opportunity

A working mobile alpha has already been developed and tested with users. The next major milestone is Open Banking integration, alongside further development of the platform's AI, financial data and consumer functionality.

Initially, the commitment is approximately 10 hours per week, with flexibility around an existing job, studies or other commitments. Regular in-person collaboration with the Founder in London will be important.

The objective is to:

  • Build
  • Launch
  • Prove consumer traction
  • Raise funding
  • Go full-time

Following successful funding, the intention is for the founders to transition into salaried full-time roles and build the company together.

The Product

The company is building a consumer-focused financial platform designed to help people make better financial decisions and work towards their financial goals.

The technology brings together:

  • Financial goal and calculation engines
  • Generative AI and conversational interfaces
  • Open Banking and financial data aggregation
  • Transaction and spending intelligence
  • Investments operations
  • Social features
  • Financial insights and actions
  • Mobile-first product development
  • APIs and financial data infrastructure

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Takes genuine ownership and accountability
  • Is comfortable working with ambiguity and limited resources
  • Can make pragmatic technical decisions and move quickly
  • Has a strong product mindset
  • Wants to influence business and product strategy, not just write code
  • Is commercially curious and entrepreneurial
  • Is passionate about consumer technology

Important Please Read Before Applying

This opportunity is not a salaried CTO position at the current stage.

The company is currently bootstrapped and pre-funding. The successful candidate will join as a genuine Co-Founder / Shareholder and receive a meaningful founder-level equity position. There is no salary or employment contract initially.

The initial commitment is approximately 10 hours per week, with the expectation that this can work alongside an existing role or studies.

The longer-term objective is to raise external funding and transition the founders into salaried full-time positions within the company.
