Company/Product: TSW — TapShakeWalk Location: Remote, with regular UK working-hour overlap Commitment: Part-time initially, with the intention to become a long-term full-time co-founder Compensation: Equity-based initially; no salary is available at present Relationship: Co-founder opportunity subject to a successful working trial and written agreement

About TSW

TSW — TapShakeWalk — is a mobile fitness rewards platform designed to make everyday movement more engaging.

Users can earn progress through activities such as walking, running and cycling, participate in challenges, connect with friends, unlock achievements and use their earned coins within the wider TSW rewards ecosystem.

TSW is beyond the idea or prototype stage. The product currently includes:

  • React Native applications for Android and iOS
  • A production AWS-hosted backend
  • User authentication and account management
  • Health and activity-data integrations
  • GPS-based distance activity tracking
  • A configurable reward economy
  • Daily earning limits and progress systems
  • Social and competitive features
  • Rewards, deals and shopping functionality
  • Offline-supporting mobile architecture
  • Administrative and operational tooling

The immediate focus is production stability, application-store release and the development of a reliable technical foundation for growth.

The Opportunity

I am looking for a hands-on Technical Co-Founder who can gradually assume ownership of TSW’s engineering organisation and technical direction.

This is not a short-term freelance assignment or a request for someone to build an application from an idea. A substantial product already exists.

The right person will be comfortable entering an existing codebase, understanding previous architectural decisions, protecting accepted product behaviour and improving the system without repeatedly breaking previously resolved functionality.

Following a successful working trial, the person would move towards becoming TSW’s Founding CTO and long-term technical partner.

Your Responsibilities

You will:

  • Review and understand the existing React Native and backend architecture
  • Help complete production hardening for Android and iOS
  • Resolve complex cross-platform bugs and prevent regressions
  • Own application-store build and release reliability
  • Improve automated testing, monitoring and release controls
  • Protect critical reward, health-data and activity-tracking pipelines
  • Improve security, performance and offline behaviour
  • Review backend services, APIs and AWS infrastructure
  • Establish clear engineering documentation and technical decision records
  • Help design a dependable production deployment process
  • Define the technical roadmap alongside the founder
  • Make practical build-versus-buy and infrastructure decisions
  • Support future engineering recruitment when the company grows
  • Participate in product, business and company-level decisions

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Existing Technology

The current technology includes:

  • React Native
  • TypeScript and JavaScript
  • Node.js and Express
  • Android and iOS native integrations
  • Apple HealthKit
  • Android Health Connect and device sensors
  • GPS and background activity tracking
  • AWS infrastructure
  • Cognito-based authentication
  • Nginx and PM2
  • GitHub-based source control
  • AI-assisted development workflows

Experience with every item is not required, but strong production mobile-development experience is essential.

What I Am Looking For

You should have:

  • Strong React Native and TypeScript experience
  • Experience shipping and maintaining real Android and iOS applications
  • Solid Node.js and API-development knowledge
  • Experience debugging complex production problems
  • An understanding of mobile permissions, background services and native integrations

  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • A strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • The patience to test changes on real devices before declaring them complete
  • Interest in building a company, rather than only completing development tickets

Experience with fitness, health, rewards, loyalty, gamification or location-based applications would be particularly valuable.

Founder Responsibilities

  • Reward and commercial strategy
  • Brand and community
  • Business operations
  • Partnerships and fundraising
  • Founder-led product testing
  • Company direction

The Technical Co-Founder will lead engineering execution and technical ownership while participating equally in major strategic discussions.

Compensation and Structure

This is initially an equity-based opportunity, and no salary is currently available.

The exact equity arrangement will not be agreed solely through an interview. It will depend on:

  • Technical capability
  • Weekly and long-term commitment
  • Responsibilities assumed
  • Contribution during the working trial
  • Whether the person joins part-time or full-time
  • The agreed long-term role

Any equity will be documented through appropriate founder, shareholder, intellectual-property and vesting agreements.

Salary may be introduced later when supported by funding or sustainable company revenue, but it is not currently guaranteed.

Selection Process

The proposed process is:

  1. Introductory founder conversation
  2. Technical and product discussion
  3. Review of previous production work
  4. Defined four-to-six-week working trial
  5. Review of technical delivery and working compatibility
  6. Founder-role and equity discussions
  7. Formal legal agreements before shares or permanent authority are granted

The trial is designed to determine whether both founders can work effectively together. It is not an automatic promise of equity or appointment.

How to Apply

Please provide:

  • Your LinkedIn profile
  • GitHub, portfolio or examples of previous work
  • Details of at least one production mobile application you have shipped
  • Your experience with React Native, Node.js and AWS
  • Your current location and time zone
  • Your realistic weekly availability
  • Whether you could eventually move into a full-time founder role
  • Confirmation that you understand this is currently an equity-based opportunity without salary
  • A brief explanation of why TSW interests you

Applications from agencies, outsourced development companies and people seeking only short-term freelance work are not suitable for this position.
