Technical Compliance Manager

We are currently working with our client who are looking for somebody to lead the Technical Compliance agenda for the site, ensuring robust systems are in place to deliver food safety, legality, quality and customer requirements. They will own the site Quality Management System, audit and certification programmes, customer technical compliance, specifications, supplier approval and monitoring, and associated technical governance, providing effective oversight, challenge and assurance to ensure the site remains compliant and audit-ready.

Food Safety, QMS & Audit Compliance

  • Own and continually improve the site Quality Management System.
  • Coordinate BRCGS, certification, customer and regulatory audits.
  • Manage the internal audit programme and corrective-action close-out.
  • Maintain HACCP governance and support management review systems.
  • Ensure technical systems remain current, effective and audit-ready.

Customer, Specifications & Product Compliance

  • Own customer technical requirements, portals and associated documentation.
  • Manage finished-product specifications and ensure approval before launch.
  • Coordinate artwork and label compliance against legal and customer requirements.
  • Support customer technical queries and complaint investigations where appropriate.
  • Ensure certification and customer requirements are incorporated into product documentation.

Technical Governance, Supplier Assurance & Monitoring

  • Own the supplier approval and ongoing monitoring programme, ensuring suppliers remain approved against defined risk-based requirements.
  • Maintain allergen management and associated risk-assessment systems.
  • Maintain TACCP/VACCP and food defence/fraud systems and ensure reviews are completed to schedule.

Build Capability – 10%

  • Develop compliance capability within the Technical team and wider business.
  • Coach colleagues in QMS, audit, supplier assurance and customer requirements.
  • Establish clear standards, ownership and accountability for compliance systems.

Requirements

To be considered for this role you must be able to demonstrate the following

  • Strong knowledge of food safety, legality, quality-management systems, BRCGS and retailer/customer technical requirements.
  • Strong supplier assurance, auditing, investigation and root-cause-analysis capability.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Effective communicator with the confidence to challenge and influence at all levels.
  • Strong customer and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to translate technical, regulatory and customer requirements into practical site systems.
  • Technical/Quality management experience within food manufacturing.
  • HACCP Level 4 and Food Safety Level 4, or equivalent.
  • Strong BRCGS and external audit experience.
  • Experience of supplier approval and ongoing supplier performance monitoring.
  • Experience of specifications, customer technical systems and artwork/label compliance.
  • Internal/lead auditor experience and major UK retailer experience desirable.
