Technical Consultant
Location: Travelling to various client sites (Brighton-based, not a remote role) Job Type: Permanent Salary: Competitive — exact details on application Reports To: Professional Services Manager Requirements: Full UK driving licence

About the Role
We are looking for a customer-focused Technical Consultant to ensure we deliver exceptional IT solutions on behalf of our clients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing end-to-end technical support, problem resolution, and project delivery both on-site and remotely to ensure a superior client experience
- Travelling to clients for hands-on work such as installations, upgrades, troubleshooting and escalations
- Engineering, configuring and maintaining client infrastructure (IT estate, cloud solutions, workplace and support & audit packages)
- Producing clear documentation and meeting agreed SLAs
Client Engagement & Training
- Onboarding clients with clear end-user training supporting maximum solution adoption
- Helping clients manage and improve system efficiency
- Clarifying complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver end-to-end technical support, ownership, and resolution of client issues in line with agreed SLAs and KPIs
- Travel to client sites to deliver hands-on work, including project and escalated support
- Install, configure, upgrade hardware and software, including: servers, PCs, networking equipment, and cloud-based systems
- Document incidents, project work and resolutions clearly
- Conduct reach site audits and network environment assessments
- Act independently yet collaboratively to design effective IT solutions that meet client needs
Technical & Problem-Solving Skills
- Strong experience with Microsoft 365 (including Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint Online)
- Azure administration, cloud solutions and migration projects
- Windows Server management (AD, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy)
- SharePoint expertise, including administration and user & training roles
- Hands-on VMware/Hyper-V experience
- Firewall administration (SonicWALL, Palo Alto, Fortinet, WatchGuard)
- Networking principles (VLANs, LAGS, VPNs, routing and VPNs)
- Backup & disaster recovery solutions (StorageCraft, Veeam, N-Able)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Key Requirements
- Proven experience in customer-facing technical or consulting roles
- Clear technical knowledge of integrating hardware/software together to solve business user problems
- Exceptional communication skills — working with technical teams and non-technical clients to clarify and implement solutions
- Interest in keeping up-to-date with Microsoft and IT industry horizon scanning
- Self-motivation & ownership — always completing tasks to the highest specification even as other priorities arise
- Everyone at Trident is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with our clients and vendors, carrying this principle into the team dynamic
Desirable
- Exposure to software-defined datacentre (techniques for virtualising infrastructure)
- Previous security-focused or risk-mitigating roles
- Experience with onboarding new suppliers and maintaining relationships
