Technical Content Researcher – Automotive (Outside IR35)
Remote | Circa £325 per day | 2-Month Contract | Immediate Start
We're supporting a global leader in the commercial vehicle and automotive engineering sector in the search for an experienced Technical Content Researcher to join a high-profile learning and development programme.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong automotive technical background who can translate complex engineering concepts into clear, structured learning content.
The Role
You'll act as the bridge between learners and instructional designers, ensuring specialist knowledge is captured, validated and presented in a way that's easy for non-technical audiences to understand.
Key responsibilities include:
- Working closely with engineering Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to extract and validate technical knowledge.
- Reviewing existing technical documentation and identifying content suitable for learning materials.
- Translating complex automotive concepts into clear, structured content for instructional designers.
- Ensuring technical accuracy and consistent terminology across learning resources.
- Supporting the development of both foundational technical content and manufacturer-specific systems and processes.

Technical Focus
You'll be working across a range of automotive topics, including:
- Automotive systems and diagnostics.
- High Voltage (HV) technologies.
- Battery systems.
- HV safety and system isolation/de-energisation.
- Technical terminology and engineering processes.

About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- A strong technical background within the automotive industry.
- Experience as a Technical Trainer, Technical Author, Automotive SME or similar technical role.
- The ability to work confidently with engineers and technical specialists.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical information.
- HV knowledge (highly desirable).
- Experience within commercial vehicles or with a major automotive OEM would be advantageous.
