About the role
The Venues Department delivers weekly nightclub events, live entertainment, conferencing and food and beverage operations for thousands of students and visitors each week, turning over around £5 million in gross sales per year. Reporting to the Assistant Head of Venues (Events), the postholder produces the planning, delivery and supervision of all technical aspects of events across Cardiff Students' Union's venues. The role manages the Technical Crew team, ensuring events are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high professional standard, while maintaining technical equipment, managing resources and working closely with promoters, clients and colleagues to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Person specification
- A Level 3 qualification in technical production, production technology, technical theatre, live events or a closely related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Practical experience working with sound, lighting, staging and associated production equipment in an entertainment venue.
- Experience working with promoters, touring parties, suppliers and contractors.
- Experience supervising, coordinating and training/coaching technical crew.
- Experience delivering technical requirements from planning and advancing through to event delivery and pack-down.
- Experience working safely within a live event or technical production environment.
- Detailed practical knowledge of live event production, equipment and systems.
- Ability to produce and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Ability to develop practical and creative technical solutions for events.
