Technical Customer Quality Engineer
We’re looking for a Technical Customer Quality Engineer to join Overview and play a key role at the intersection of engineering, quality and customer experience. Based at our Woking office, you’ll act as a trusted technical quality contact for our customers, investigating issues, getting to the root cause of problems and working closely with Engineering, Production, Software, Quality and Business Development to deliver effective solutions.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll have the opportunity to lead investigations, support product verification and reliability, contribute to new product introductions, drive continuous improvement and help ensure our products consistently meet customer, regulatory and industry requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Quality
- Act as primary quality contact for customers.
- Lead complaint and RMA investigations.
- Prepare technical reports and corrective action plans.
- Escalate customer queries to the R&D department for more complex technical issues and drive timely resolution.
- Support customer audits and site visits.
- Monitor customer quality performance metrics and identify adverse trends.
- Lead 8D investigations and customer corrective action responses.
- Identify potential business opportunities for the Business Development Team.
- Support new product introductions and customer acceptance activities.
Quality Engineering
- Lead non-conformance investigations.
- Drive CAPA and root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Why, 8D and Fishbone Analysis.
- Support inspection standards, test procedures and quality documentation.
- Analyse quality trends, KPIs and metrics.
- Conduct internal audits to ISO9001 and ISO14001.
- Maintain and improve the Business Management System.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, scrap and rework.
- Support risk management activities including PFMEA and Control Plans where applicable.
- Support manufacturing and engineering teams in resolving quality issues.
Product Reliability & Compliance
- Support product verification, validation and reliability testing.
- Investigate field failures and recurring reliability issues.
- Assist Engineering with root cause investigations and design verification.
- Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory and industry requirements.
Personal Profile
Mandatory
- Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the UK and internationally.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English.
- Strong understanding of electronics, electromechanical systems, and technical measurement techniques.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Experience in system-level troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and producing detailed technical reports.
- Competent in the testing, validation, and evaluation of new products and prototypes.
- Ability to develop clear technical documentation, including user guides, application notes, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Software, Quality, and Business Development teams.
- Experience supporting customers in a technical or quality-focused environment, including issue diagnosis, solution deployment, and product integration.
- Experience conducting internal audits and operating within ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified environments.
- Strong analytical, data collection, and problem-solving skills, with experience handling both variable and attribute data.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred
- A team player and effective communicator, able to use own initiative, make and act on decisions and to pass knowledge / skills on to other team members;
- Ability to continually improve and evolve processes and products effectively;
- Working knowledge of LEAN principles.
- Ability to identify opportunities for process enhancements, improved product performance, or simplified customer deployment.
- Ability to translate customer requirements into clear technical specifications or improvements for internal teams;
- Comfortable using measurement equipment, data-logging tools, oscilloscopes, or similar diagnostic tools.

The Process
Most of our interviews will take place over one or two stages, typically a phone/teams interview followed by a face-to-face interview on-site. We do ask all candidates who are coming to a face-to-face interview to carry out a short Psychometric assessment to help us understand how you tick!
