You will work directly with systems, security tools and technical teams, taking ownership of key security controls, proactively identifying and addressing vulnerabilities, and leading the technical response to cyber security incidents.
Working closely with our internal IT team and external security partners, you will play a key role in strengthening our security posture and ensuring risks are identified, prioritised and resolved effectively.
The Role
As Technical Cyber Security Manager, you will act as our internal technical lead for cyber security. This is a practical role that combines hands-on technical expertise with responsibility for our security services, controls, policies and improvement roadmap.
You Will
- Identify, investigate and remediate cyber security weaknesses across the IT environment.
- Proactively assess vulnerabilities, security configurations and emerging technology risks.
- Lead threat hunting and security analysis using available telemetry and threat intelligence.
- Own and continually improve security controls across identity and access, endpoints, email, networks, servers, applications and cloud services.
- Manage the performance and effectiveness of outsourced SOC, MDR and SIEM services.
- Review security alerts, incidents and trends, challenging external providers on technical quality and outcomes.
- Lead the technical response to cyber security incidents, including investigation, evidence gathering, containment, recovery and root-cause analysis.
- Own the vulnerability management process, ensuring actions are appropriately prioritised and taken through to resolution.
- Coordinate penetration testing and independent technical security assessments.
- Review security configurations and develop practical hardening standards.
- Maintain and regularly review IT and information security policies, standards and procedures.
- Embed security by design into IT projects, system changes, new technologies and supplier engagements.
- Assess technology and third-party security risks and work with relevant stakeholders to agree appropriate actions.
- Maintain a prioritised cyber security improvement roadmap.
- Provide clear reporting on risks, vulnerabilities, incidents, control effectiveness and remediation progress.
- Identify opportunities to automate security monitoring, investigation, remediation and reporting activities.

Key Requirements
We Are Looking For Someone With
- Strong hands-on technical cyber security experience within a modern IT environment.
- A broad understanding of enterprise infrastructure and networking, including Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, Windows endpoints and servers, virtualisation and cloud services.
- Practical experience with security technologies such as endpoint detection and response, vulnerability management, email security, identity and access controls, firewalls and security monitoring platforms.
- Experience working with or managing outsourced SOC, MDR and SIEM services.
- Experience leading or supporting cyber security investigations and incident response.
- The ability to identify, assess and prioritise vulnerabilities and technical security risks.
- Experience reviewing technical configurations and translating findings into clear and proportionate actions.
- Strong supplier-management skills and the confidence to challenge external security providers.
- The ability to communicate technical security risks clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience developing and implementing IT and information security policies, standards and procedures.
- Practical experience of proactive threat hunting, detection engineering or security monitoring improvement.
- The ability to identify appropriate automation or scripting opportunities.
- Strong practical experience securing Microsoft environments, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID or Active Directory, Defender, Azure and Windows endpoints and servers.
- Knowledge of recognised frameworks and standards such as Cyber Essentials, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CIS Controls or ISO 27001.
- A collaborative and pragmatic approach, with a strong focus on ownership, problem-solving and delivery.

A relevant cyber security qualification, such as CISSP, CISM, Security+, a Microsoft security certification or equivalent, would be desirable. However, demonstrable hands-on capability is equally important.
