Technical Data Architect
Contract: Short-Term
Outside IR35
Location: Remote
We are looking for an experienced Technical Data Architect to lead a crucial short term Discovery Phase.
You will own the end to end data and service mapping, evaluate architectural options (specifically around Databricks integration vs. standalone patterns), and establish robust governance, security, and assurance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Data & Service Mapping: Map end to end data journeys and service touchpoints across complex systems.
- Architecture Options & Strategy: Evaluate standalone vs. integrated architectural patterns, specifically determining how and where Databricks fits into the target ecosystem.
- Data Modeling: Define target high-level and detailed data models to support scalable analytics and service delivery.
- Governance & Assurance: Draft Architectural Decision Records (ADRs) and produce industry-standard visual documentation using the C4 model.
- Risk & Security: Maintain a comprehensive RAID log, ensuring privacy-by-default, GDPR compliance, and strict alignment with cyber security standards.

Key Requirements

- Proven track record as a Data Architect leading Greenfield/Discovery phases within consultancy or enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience evaluating and designing architectures around Databricks (lakehouse patterns, integration paths, data mesh/governance).
- Strong capability in C4 model documentation and formal ADR creation.
- Deep knowledge of enterprise data governance, privacy-by-default, GDPR, and security frameworks.
