Technical Delivery Lead — £40,000+pa depending on experience

Full-time | Fully remote | UK-based only

Thornacre Engineering builds WordPress and PHP-based websites and digital applications for public sector organizations across the UK.

We’re looking for a Technical Delivery Lead to take ownership of the day-to-day technical delivery of our digital projects. This is a hands-on role combining software engineering, technical leadership, project delivery and client communication.

You’ll:

  • Lead the technical delivery of WordPress and PHP projects
  • Work directly with clients throughout delivery
  • Coordinate closely with designers and developers
  • Write production code across WordPress, PHP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • Review pull requests and support junior engineers
  • Keep technical, design and project documentation accurate and up to date
  • Help plan work, manage priorities and keep projects moving
  • Maintain high standards across code quality, testing and deployment
  • Report directly to the Technical Director

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Around 3+ years’ relevant commercial experience
  • Strong WordPress and PHP development experience
  • Experience with Git and pull-request-based workflows
  • Confidence reviewing other developers’ code
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence speaking directly with clients
  • The ability to take ownership of delivery while remaining hands-on technically
  • Good organization and attention to detail
