Technical Delivery Lead — £40,000+pa depending on experience
Full-time | Fully remote | UK-based only
Thornacre Engineering builds WordPress and PHP-based websites and digital applications for public sector organizations across the UK.
We’re looking for a Technical Delivery Lead to take ownership of the day-to-day technical delivery of our digital projects. This is a hands-on role combining software engineering, technical leadership, project delivery and client communication.
You’ll:
- Lead the technical delivery of WordPress and PHP projects
- Work directly with clients throughout delivery
- Coordinate closely with designers and developers
- Write production code across WordPress, PHP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS
- Review pull requests and support junior engineers
- Keep technical, design and project documentation accurate and up to date
- Help plan work, manage priorities and keep projects moving
- Maintain high standards across code quality, testing and deployment
- Report directly to the Technical Director

We’re looking for someone with:
- Around 3+ years’ relevant commercial experience
- Strong WordPress and PHP development experience
- Experience with Git and pull-request-based workflows
- Confidence reviewing other developers’ code
- Excellent communication skills and confidence speaking directly with clients
- The ability to take ownership of delivery while remaining hands-on technically
- Good organization and attention to detail

Salary: £40,000+ per year depending on experience
Location: Fully remote, but you must be based in the UK
Employment: Full-time, permanent
