Cloud Platform Technical Design Authority
£85,000–£90,000 + 20% bonus + £8,000 car allowance
Remote | Full-time | Permanent
We’re looking for an experienced Cloud Platform Technical Design Authority to join a global technology team and provide technical governance and design assurance across a large-scale cloud environment.
This is a technical design and governance role, rather than a pure hands-on engineering position. You’ll take approved High-Level Designs (HLDs) through to detailed Low-Level Designs (LLDs), review technical change requests, and ensure solutions are ready for implementation.
The role:
- Review, challenge and approve cloud/infrastructure designs and changes.
- Translate HLDs into robust, implementation-ready LLDs.
- Ensure designs meet requirements around security, resilience, DR, supportability and cost.
- Work closely with AWS/cloud engineering teams and managed service providers.
- Hold vendors accountable for technical quality and delivery.
- Work within established change management and governance processes, including CAB.
- Clearly communicate technical decisions, risks and recommendations.
- Drive improvements in technical submissions, governance and the HLD → LLD process.

What we’re looking for:
- Strong experience across AWS and cloud technology.
- Proven experience with technical design, HLD/LLD and design assurance.
- Strong change management / ITIL / CAB experience.
- Excellent attention to detail and technical understanding.
- Comfortable challenging vendors and delivery teams.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain what needs to be done and why.
- Broad technical knowledge - you don’t need to be a specialist in every technology, but you do need to be able to understand the problem and find the right answer.

AWS architecture experience and relevant certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, ITIL or TOGAF would be advantageous.
