Technical Design Authority (TDA)

Location: Berkshire (Onsite)

Contract: 3-6 Months

IR35: Inside IR35

We are seeking an experienced Technical Design Authority (TDA) / Technical Assurance Consultant to provide technical governance, oversight, and assurance across a corporate IT estate. This is a senior stakeholder-facing role, acting as the bridge between IT leadership, operational teams, suppliers, and business stakeholders, ensuring all technical solutions align with architecture standards, security requirements, and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assurance and governance across IT projects and change initiatives.
  • Review, challenge, and approve technical designs, solutions, and implementation approaches.
  • Support technical sign-off and transition of new services into operational support.
  • Contribute to IT risk management activities, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated.
  • Participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) and project governance forums.
  • Support audit readiness and compliance initiatives, including information security controls and best practice standards.
  • Act as a senior technical escalation point for complex infrastructure, identity, and endpoint-related issues.
  • Work closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure solutions are delivered to agreed technical standards.
  • Assist in the creation and review of Statements of Work (SOWs), technical documentation, and architectural artefacts.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience operating as a Technical Design Authority, Technical Architect, Solution Architect, or Technical Assurance Consultant.
  • Microsoft 365 expertise, including:
    • Microsoft Entra ID
    • Intune / Endpoint Management
    • Microsoft Defender
    • Purview
    • Conditional Access and Identity Governance
  • Strong understanding of Identity & Access Management (IAM) and Joiners, Movers, and Leavers (JML) processes.
  • Experience with enterprise endpoint management, application deployment, and patching strategies.
  • PowerShell and Microsoft Graph automation experience.
  • Experience working within structured governance, change management, and risk frameworks.
  • Ability to engage effectively with technical teams, suppliers, senior management, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Technical assurance or design authority experience within large enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting security and compliance initiatives, including ISO27001-aligned environments.
  • Knowledge of Modern Workplace and End User Computing (EUC) strategy.
