We are seeking a Technical Design Engineer
The primary purpose for this position is to technically review tender documentation and proposals to ensure compliance to the relevant requirements specified.
You will also support the sales & estimating teams as a technical resource assisting where required on system designs and to produce the pre-construction design packs as part of the sales to project handover process.
The role is a hybrid based model, combining home working, client visits and working from our office in Chalfont St Peter.
This role is on an initial fixed term contract for 12 months, with the potential to become permanent.

SALARY: Up to £45,000.00 DoE

What You’ll be Doing as a Technical Design Engineer
The role requires strong technical understanding, including system design, system topology and product knowledge. Strong technical knowledge and experience in electronic security systems industry would be preferred.
Responsibilities include:
General
- Provide clear & detailed updates and progress reports for tender technical reviews, design projects and pre-qualification questionnaires.
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the business at all levels on multiple projects simultaneously

Design Packs
- Manage the production, and produce complete system designs for live and upcoming projects, including but not limited to:
- Layout drawings
- Panel/rack elevations
- Door elevations
- Single line schematics
- Specifications
- Device schedules
- Document schedules
- Technical submittals
- Risk & method statements (RAMS)
- Programme of works
- Procurement schedule
Design Coordination
- Liaise with the project managers, sales and estimators to ensure the design meets the client’s design requirements
- Work with sales and estimating teams to produce client required design packs
- Attend sites to survey as required
- Carry out design services as required by customers and agreed with sales
- Manage the design change process
Standards & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and standardize company design and preconstruction documentation
- Support the development of, and set out company installation quality guides and playbooks
- Maintain awareness of latest industry regulations and standards ensuring the business remains compliant where required.
- Identify opportunities to improve design quality, consistency and efficiency.
What We Would Like You To Bring
Essential:
- Strong technical knowledge and experience in electronic security systems industry would be preferred.
- Strong practical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team.
- Full UK Driving Licence (or working towards obtaining one).
- Ability to work at customer sites and travel as required.
- Willingness to undertake training and professional development.
- Experience using CAD software
- Microsoft Office package

Desirable:
- Previous experience in a technical, engineering, construction, or security-related environment.
- Relevant qualification in Electrical, Electronic, Engineering, or Technical Studies.
- ECS Card or willingness to obtain one.
- Basic understanding of electrical or electronic principles.
- Security screening clearance or willingness to undergo screening.
