Role Description

The Technical Design & IT Systems Officer is a full-time hybrid role based in Birmingham, with flexibility for some work from home. This position is responsible for designing, maintaining, and improving the company’s technical systems that support energy grant processing, ECO shop operations, and renewable installation projects. The officer will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure that technology and system design align with regulatory requirements and business goals.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical design and system architecture skills, with experience planning, documenting, and implementing IT solutions.
  • Competence in managing IT infrastructure (e.g., networks, servers, cloud tools) and supporting business-critical applications.
  • Experience with data management, reporting, and basic database or CRM administration in a business environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues and provide clear technical support to non-technical colleagues.
  • Familiarity with information security practices, user access management, and data protection standards.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate operational requirements into technical specifications.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience in energy efficiency, renewable installations, or grant-funded schemes is beneficial but not required.
  • Relevant technical qualification or degree in IT, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Willingness to work in a hybrid pattern from Birmingham and adapt to changing business and technology needs.
