About Us
Hubber is building the next generation infrastructure ecosystem for commercial electric transport in cities, delivering high powered sites for fleets, from ride-hailing and parcel delivery to field services, rental and autonomous vehicles.
Founded in 2024 by an ex-Tesla team, Hubber has secured over £60m of capital, announced a partnership with Uber and already delivered 10+ projects. The next two years take it from a handful of sites to hundreds, and this role is a rare chance to join a company making the jump from start-up to scale-up.
The Role
Every site is a design problem before it is a construction project: what fits on a tight urban plot, what planning will accept, how the vehicles turn, and what a contractor can price. Get it wrong and it lands months later as a refusal, a variation or a site that energizes late.
You are our lead designer, from the first look at the land through planning and tender into construction, and you carry the design responsibility in-house. You lead the civils and electrical designers, govern how the Hubber Design Guide is applied, and tell the founders early when a site does not work. Get this right and every site is faster and cheaper than the last. Get it wrong and we pay for it on site.

Core Responsibilities
- Lead the design on every site: own the responsibility matrix and hold consultants to scope, fee, and programme.
- Appraise sites during acquisition: concept layouts, constraints, vehicle tracking and swept paths, and a design risk register from Stage 1.
- Produce the planning set and Stage 4 package from one coordinated design, applying the Design Guide.
- Coordinate and check the civils and electrical packages, and issue a tender pack a design and build contractor can price to a fixed sum.
- Own design risk: designer risk assessments, pre-construction information, and CDM and Building Safety Act advice.
- Hold the design through construction: RFIs, contractor design review, change control, as-built drawings and the health and safety file.

- Credibility in both rooms. You hold your own with a planning officer and a groundworks contractor on the same day.
What We Require
- Design competency to Stage 4 packages you personally issued and took through UK planning, ideally on multi-site rollouts.
- Fluency in AutoCAD, Revit, and vehicle tracking software. ARB, CIAT, or chartered engineer. Full UK driving licence.
- Principal Designer experience under CDM 2015 or Building Regulations is a plus, not a requirement.
