The Opportunity

Valoris Group is recruiting on behalf of an established international energy services business seeking an experienced Technical Design & Project Manager to oversee the delivery of commercial solar PV installations across the UK. This is a varied position combining project delivery, technical design review, commercial management and client engagement. You will manage multiple projects from initial feasibility and design through to installation, commissioning and handover. The role would suit an experienced Commercial Solar Project Manager who understands the full lifecycle of a PV installation and is confident managing DNO applications, planning requirements, subcontractors, budgets and technical compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of commercial solar PV installations from pre-construction through to completion.
  • Coordinate project programmes, installation teams, subcontractors, procurement and site activity.
  • Control project budgets, variations, costs and margins.
  • Define technical design requirements, including system sizing, layout, product selection, access and structural considerations.
  • Review PV designs and yield models to ensure buildability, performance and compliance.
  • Ensure installations comply with BS 7671 and the IET Code of Practice for Grid-Connected Solar Photovoltaic Systems.
  • Manage the complete DNO process, including G98, G99 and G100 applications, offers, witness testing and final notifications.
  • Oversee permitted development assessments, planning applications and planning conditions.
  • Coordinate structural engineers, planning consultants and other technical specialists.
  • Ensure projects meet insurer, funder and warranty requirements, including RC62 roof-mounted PV fire safety guidance.
  • Support the sales team with site surveys, technical feasibility, budget pricing, proposals and tenders.
  • Identify additional opportunities across battery storage, EV charging and ongoing operation and maintenance services.
  • Take ownership of site health and safety, including CDM 2015 responsibilities, RAMS reviews and site inspections.
  • Manage commissioning, quality assurance and the completion of project handover documentation.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients and provide regular progress updates throughout delivery.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
