Role description
As a Technical Director for EIA, you will be driving the success of the environmental assessment team in Arcadis, directly supporting the wider team to win and deliver great work for our clients, to grow our capability and reputation in the industry and to build meaningful relationships within Arcadis and beyond. You will be leading complex multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring exceptional outcomes for our clients. You will be an integral part of an integrated planning and environmental team, leading projects for a range of clients with opportunities to work across multiple sectors.
Role accountabilities
- Lead the delivery of projects ensuring client satisfaction, effective project management and excellent communication and collaboration between Arcadis colleagues, ensuring relevant professional guidance, policy and practice is adhered to.
- Accountability for project delivery, including selecting, leading and developing project teams, to ensure they have the necessary skills to deliver the project, they understand and are engaged with the project strategy, brief and client requirements, and to manage their delivery of project objectives
- Build meaningful relationships with the client and all key stakeholders to develop a shared understanding of project objectives and to establish protocols for working together
- Build strong working relationships with other teams and technical disciplines, Arcadis offices and external organisations to foster cooperation and to identify cross-sell and trade-up opportunities
- Lead the identification of work-winning opportunities, including leadership of high-quality winning bids, to support the business strategy and growth of Arcadis
- Coach and mentor specialist professionals to support their professional development
- Develop and maintain an excellent understanding of the services delivered by Arcadis, of the client’s business and the industry sector to facilitate personal networking and to consolidate personal and company credibility in the industry
- Keep up to date with developments in the industry sector and with technical and legislative developments and seek out opportunities to develop a strong professional profile at an Area level (e.g. conference presentations, publications and participation in technical committees)
- Proactively understand and champion relevant Arcadis policies, procedures and processes and carry out the accountability of the role in accordance with Arcadis General Business Principles.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
- Chartered status or equivalent, preferably with the Institute of Sustainability & Environmental Professionals (ISEP) (or equivalent)
- Strong consulting skills including project management and client relationship management at senior management level, with a deep understanding of a key service line or sector
- Extensive experience in managing business relationships at executive level
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Effective technical, project management, client relationship management and commercial skills
- Excellent understanding and practice of Environmental, Safety and Risk Management, including of being a Health, Safety and Wellbeing leader
