About the Role
Are you a proven Electrical Technical Director looking to take on a key leadership position within a globally renowned engineering consultancy?
We are seeking an experienced technical authority and business leader to join our London office.
In this role, you will lead the design, governance, and delivery of complex, high-stakes building services engineering projects - with a major focus on data centres, mission-critical infrastructure, and complex developments.
Sitting at the intersection of technical excellence, team leadership, and strategic business growth, you will champion robust electrical design, mentor the next generation of engineers, and act as a trusted advisor to global clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership & Design Governance: Lead hands-on concept and detailed electrical design, engineering calculations, and system coordination across major mission-critical and building services projects.
- Data Centre Expertise: Conduct due diligence, site surveys, and technical audits for legacy and new-build data centre facilities.
- Team & Office Management: Direct and mentor multi-disciplinary engineering teams while contributing to local office leadership and sector management alongside fellow senior leaders.
- Commercial & Financial Control: Oversee project fee proposals, fiscal risk management, and profit diagnoses to consistently deliver target margins.
- Client & Business Development: Build lasting relationships with key developers, hyperscalers, and enterprise clients, supporting procurement, tender reviews, and pipeline growth.
- Industry Thought Leadership: Author technical white papers, present at major industry events, and champion innovative, sustainable engineering solutions.
- Project Delivery & QA/QC: Drive rigorous internal controls, risk monitoring, and QA/QC processes from early-stage design through to construction supervision and commissioning.

What We Are Looking For
- Qualifications: Degree-qualified (BSc/BEng) in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or equivalent. Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with MCIBSE or MIET registration is required.
- Deep Sector Experience: Extensive track record in specification design and technical delivery within an engineering consultancy or specialist construction setting.
- Mission Critical Focus: Proven background in data centres, high-density power systems, controls integration, and resilient infrastructure.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of fee proposals, project financials, UK building regulations/BS standards, and contract law.
- Leadership Skills: Exceptional ability to chair high-level technical meetings, mentor junior talent, and collaborate across international business operations.
- International Experience: Prior experience delivering projects overseas or working within a global consultancy model is highly desirable.
