About the Role

This is a newly created executive-level role for a data centre professional who is as comfortable in a boardroom as in a data hall. An established data centre and business-critical infrastructure services business is appointing its most senior technical voice, reporting directly to the CEO and sitting on the Senior Management Team.

About the Opportunity

The focus is commercial. You will help the business win larger and more complex work - acting as senior technical authority on major bids, strengthening customer confidence, and turning customer requirements into propositions that are compelling, deliverable, and profitable. Alongside that you will identify and develop new services, build strategic partnerships, shape company strategy, and provide senior technical assurance to delivery teams.

This is not day-to-day operational management. You will initially operate without direct reports, so success rests on technical credibility, commercial influence, and the ability to work across sales, operations, delivery, and leadership.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Act as senior technical authority during major bids, tenders, customer meetings, and complex pre-sales
  • Work with sales to qualify opportunities and develop differentiated technical solutions
  • Provide technical input into scopes of work, solution designs, pricing assumptions, proposals, and delivery models
  • Translate complex technical concepts into commercially compelling propositions for executive and technical audiences
  • Identify technical, commercial, and operational risk early, and keep proposed solutions safe and deliverable
  • Generate and evaluate new services and repeatable propositions, with business cases covering value, market, differentiation, risk, and pricing
  • Lead the technical design and launch of approved new services, and equip sales teams to take them to market
  • Contribute technical, customer, and market insight to company strategy as part of the Senior Management Team
  • Review complex or high-risk scopes, technical proposals, delivery plans, RAMS, and handover approaches
  • Develop relationships with technology vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and partners, and represent the business externally

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
