Technical Documentation Consultant

6-month contract | Oxfordshire hybrid

Skills Required

Hardware, Software, Firmware, API, AI & Data Documentation

Are you a technical documentation specialist who enjoys bringing clarity to complex products?

Do you have a strong grasp of hardware, software, firmware, APIs, AI or data-led technologies?

Would you like to take ownership of a documentation estate, improve structure, consistency and usability, and leave things in brilliant shape for a growing technology business?

Our client is a growing organisation with a technical product environment spanning hardware, software, firmware, API development, AI and data. Due to continued growth, their documentation has fallen behind the pace of innovation, and they are now looking for a Technical Documentation Consultant to help bring everything back up to standard over an initial 6-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who can quickly understand technical concepts, work closely with engineering and product teams, and turn complex information into clear, accurate and user-friendly documentation.

Why This Role is Great

This contract gives you the chance to make a visible, practical impact across a fast-moving technical environment. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Take ownership of reviewing and improving existing technical documentation across hardware, software, firmware and API-related areas.
  • Bring structure, consistency and quality to documentation that has grown organically during a period of business expansion.
  • Work with technical stakeholders to capture missing information, clarify details and ensure documentation is accurate and easy to use.
  • Create, update and refine documentation for technical users, internal teams and potentially external audiences.
  • Help shape best-practice documentation standards that will support the business beyond the initial contract.
  • Build an understanding of connected technology, with IoT or telecoms-related exposure being particularly useful.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
