Role: Technical Engagement Manager
BU/Segment: Banking / Analytics / Data Management
Location: Halifax or London, United Kingdom (Hybrid working and travel to Halifax at least twice a month if UK-based)
Employment Type: Umbrella Contract (Inside IR35) to start ASAP. We are open to offering a Permanent position, however this role requires an immediate start
We are seeking an experienced Engagement Manager to lead a strategic data modernisation engagement for a large financial services client. The individual will be accountable for the overall client relationship, delivery governance, stakeholder management, and successful execution of a large-scale data migration programme involving approximately 40 onsite and offshore resources.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing enterprise-scale Data Migration, Data Transformation, Data Warehousing, and Cloud Modernisation programmes, preferably involving the migration of legacy SAS-based platforms to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using modern data engineering frameworks.
This role requires a blend of executive stakeholder management, programme leadership, commercial oversight, delivery excellence, and technical understanding of large-scale data transformation initiatives.
As part of your duties, you will be responsible for:
Client Engagement & Relationship Management
- Act as the primary engagement lead
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior business and technology stakeholders.
- Serve as the trusted advisor for programme strategy, delivery approach, risk mitigation, and transformation roadmap.
- Facilitate executive governance meetings, steering committees, and stakeholder reviews.
- Drive customer satisfaction and identify opportunities for account growth and value realization.

Programme & Delivery Leadership
- Lead end-to-end delivery of large-scale data migration and modernisation programmes.
- Manage a multidisciplinary team of approximately 40 resources across onsite and offshore locations.
- Ensure delivery milestones, schedules, budgets, and quality objectives are achieved.
- Establish programme governance, reporting frameworks, KPIs, and risk management processes.
- Coordinate with business, architecture, engineering, testing, DevOps, and operational teams.
Data Migration & Modernisation Oversight
- Drive migration of legacy data assets and reporting platforms to modern cloud ecosystems.
- Oversee migration planning, data validation, reconciliation, testing, and cutover activities.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and data governance requirements.
- Provide leadership in data architecture, data quality, and transformation strategy.
Commercial & Financial Management
- Manage programme budgets, forecasts, resource planning, and utilization.
- Track and report financial performance, risks, and delivery health.
- Support contract management, change requests, and scope management activities.
- Ensure effective offshore-onshore collaboration and productivity.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop delivery managers, architects, and engineering teams.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance delivery culture.
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- 16+ years of overall IT experience with at least 5+ years in client-facing engagement or programme management roles.
- Proven experience managing large-scale Data Migration and Data Modernisation programmes.
- Experience leading delivery teams of 30+ resources across global locations.
- Strong experience working with banking, financial services, or insurance organizations.
- Demonstrated success managing complex stakeholder environments and executive-level interactions.
- Experience with cloud migration initiatives and enterprise data platforms

Preferred Experience
- Experience leading SAS Modernisation or SAS-to-Cloud Migration programmes.
- Experience with migration to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Familiarity with modern data engineering technologies including: DBT, BigQuery, Dataflow, Composer/Airflow, Python, SQL, ETL/ELT frameworks.
- Experience in banking environments, particularly risk, finance, regulatory, or customer data domains.
- Understanding of data governance, metadata management, data quality, and regulatory compliance.
