Why Join Siddall and Hilton?

Siddall & Hilton have been manufacturing in Brighouse since 1895, and today we're the UK's leading manufacturer of welded wire mesh panels. We're looking for a hands-on, curious Technical Engineer to learn from our most experienced people, capture decades of specialist know-how before they retire, and turn it into the standards the whole team works to.

It's a role with real breadth — hands-on fault-finding and machine optimisation one day, building the technical knowledge library and coaching the next. If you're a mechanical engineer who loves getting to the root of a problem and leaving things better and more repeatable than you found them, this is a rare chance to make a role your own.

What You'll Be Doing?

  • £38,000 - £42,000 per annum depending on experience

  • Full-time | Brighouse, West Yorkshire

  • 42.5 hours per week | Annualised hours

  • Closing date: 11th September 2026

  • Troubleshoot production issues and support operators, minimising technical downtime

  • Investigate defects and get to the real cause rather than the symptom

  • Fine-tune machinery for stable output, quality and repeatable performance

  • Support Production Technicians through complex set-ups, changeovers and start-ups

  • Identify and improve machine changeover and set-up best practice

  • Make sure tooling, consumables and circulating parts are specified, serviceable and ready when needed

  • Capture specialist knowledge and turn it into clear guides, standards, training and a searchable knowledge library

  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean and data, and trial practical engineering modifications through proper change control

  • Deliver hands-on training for Production Technicians and Engineering trainees, working safely at all times

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
