Raybloc is looking for a Technical Estimator to join our close-knit team. You don't need construction experience. We'll teach you the industry, our products and how projects run from first drawing to final handover. What we're looking for is someone who enjoys working with numbers and detail, learns quickly and is confident talking to people.
About Raybloc
Since 1999, Raybloc (X-ray Protection) Ltd has designed, manufactured and installed radiation shielding for hospitals, the NHS, private healthcare, dental and veterinary practices, and the construction companies who build them. Our range includes lead-lined doors and frames, X-ray viewing windows and protective screens, all made in our own workshop in Willenhall.
We're a growing business with an award-winning reputation. We were named BHTA Manufacturer of the Year 2025, and our products help protect patients and staff in healthcare facilities across the UK and beyond.
The Role
As a Technical Estimator, you'll be a key link between Raybloc and the architects and contractors designing new healthcare spaces. You'll follow projects from their earliest stages right through to completion, helping clients understand what they need and giving them confidence in Raybloc and our products.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Reading and interpreting architectural drawings, including CAD drawings
- Scaling drawings and matching them to shielding specifications to estimate the manufacture and/or installation work required
- Building accurate quotations using Excel and Odoo
- Speaking with architects and contractors about technical radiation shielding questions
- Discussing projects with our estimating team, workshop and wider office to get the details right
- Supporting clients after they've placed an order, helping their projects through to completion

Occasionally you'll get the chance to visit sites or meet clients in person. This is a small part of the role, and most of your time will be in our office.
How You'll Learn
You'll shadow our experienced estimating team and learn directly from colleagues across every department. That includes the workshop, where you can see how our products are made and talk to the people who make them. There's also the opportunity to learn CAD drawing software as you develop.
You'll build a real understanding of radiation shielding, our manufactured product range and how the construction industry works. If further training or qualifications would help your development, we're open to exploring them with you.
Where This Can Lead
As a small, growing business, opportunities come up quickly here. Estimators who show the right ability can progress into roles such as Project Manager or leading a team within the organisation. Pay is reviewed every year.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- GCSEs in Maths and English
- An analytical, detail-focused mind and good numeracy
- Confidence speaking with clients, both on the phone and face to face
- A genuine willingness to learn about radiation shielding, our products and the construction industry
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, collaborative team
- Comfortable using Excel, or keen to get comfortable quickly

Desirable:
- A degree, particularly in construction, engineering, quantity surveying, architecture, physics or a related subject
- Any experience reading technical or architectural drawings
We value your ability to learn over previous experience in the field. Graduates are very welcome, and so are applicants starting out who can show they're eager to learn.

Location
Our office is in Willenhall, West Midlands, five minutes from Junction 10 of the M6. This is a fully office-based role, so you'll need to commute reliably to Willenhall.
