Technical Estimator / Fabrication Administrator
Bodmin, Cornwall | £26,000 - £38,000 DOE | Permanent
Contek Recruitment Solutions are representing their client, a growing engineering and fabrication business, seeking an experienced Welder/Fabricator or technical professional looking to develop their career away from the tools.
Are you an experienced Welder/Fabricator looking to move into an office-based technical role? Or perhaps you're already working within technical administration, estimating or engineering and are looking for your next step?
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing engineering business where you can develop your skills across technical administration, estimating and production coordination.
The Role
Working closely with management, production and customers, you'll help turn customer enquiries and engineering drawings into successful manufacturing projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing quotations from customer drawings and specifications
- Reviewing engineering drawings and understanding manufacturing requirements
- Producing and amending AutoCAD drawings
- Liaising with customers and suppliers regarding technical queries
- Supporting production with technical information
- Preparing job packs and manufacturing documentation
- Maintaining drawing revisions and engineering documentation
- Updating internal factory management systems
- Supporting the estimating process
- Developing an understanding of manufacturing costs
- Assisting with production coordination as your experience develops
- Helping resolve technical queries throughout the manufacturing process

Who We're Looking For
This role could suit someone from either a workshop or office-based engineering background.
We're particularly interested in speaking with:
- Experienced Welder/Fabricators looking to move off the tools
- Fabricators with good computer skills who want to develop technically
- Sheet Metal Workers with strong drawing interpretation skills
- Engineering Administrators
- Technical Administrators
- Junior Estimators
- Engineering professionals looking for a varied office-based role
Essential Skills
- Good understanding of engineering drawings
- Experience within fabrication, welding, sheet metal or general engineering
- Good computer skills and confidence using Microsoft Office
- Strong organisation and communication skills
- Practical and methodical approach
- Willingness to learn and develop
Desirable Experience
- AutoCAD
- Previous estimating experience
- Fabrication or sheet metal estimating
- SolidWorks or Fusion 360
- Manufacturing/ERP or factory management systems
- ISO 9001 environment
- Customer or supplier liaison

Hours & Benefits
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00am - 4:15pm
- Friday: 7:00am - 12:15pm
- £26,000 - £38,000 depending on experience
- Full-time permanent position
- AutoCAD training where required
