The purpose of the position

To contribute to EthosEnergy’s vision of creating fast, dependable and creative solutions for our customers. Supporting our strategic priorities of quality, speed and growth.

Job Responsibilities

Key responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Full global travel, working in onshore, offshore and remote site locations
  • Carrying out scheduled maintenance, breakdown and adhoc support, installation and commissioning of Siemens/Solar rotating machinery, installation and commissioning of retrofit projects, all in order to meet the business demands of our Client base, also possessing an advanced level of technical knowledge and expertise to support the product, Customers and teammates alike.
  • Programming, optimization & troubleshooting of various Gas Turbine control systems (e.g.: Rustronic MKII, Siemens Step7 / PCS7, Allen Bradley Control Logix)
  • Calibration, maintenance & repair work on electrical, electronic and pneumatic system components, including functional testing
  • Troubleshooting and technical customer support (remote & onsite)
  • Coordination of onsite teams
  • Preparation of technical documentation
  • Support of the sales team in the preparation of quotations
  • Occasional attendance to EthosEnergy locations to provide preparatory/technical support to the business.
  • Client facing; effective leadership of a team, effective supervision skills, effective communication skills both internally and externally
  • Timely submission of comprehensive site visit reports and all required associated documentation
  • Liaise with Commercial functions to ensure all customer documentation is completed and that briefings are attended
  • Working with varying areas for development of Control retrofit solutions, etc
  • Represent EthosEnergy at site meetings

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMI (Human Machine Interfaces)
  • Product knowledge of Siemens small gas turbine range of packages is essential (TB5000, TB5400, TD4000, SGT-100, SGT-200, SGT-400)
  • Product Knowledge of Solar gas turbine ranges Saturn, Centaur and Taurus desirable.
  • Strong logical and analytical thinking skills as well as technical understanding
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English
  • Flexible operational readiness
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret technical drawings
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to plan, lead and supervise a team and the job effectively
  • Advanced level of fault finding and diagnosis skills essential
  • Must be able to interpret technical requests from customers and Project/Contract Managers
  • Reporting writing skills essential
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Must be computer literate, including literacy of control systems software
  • Behaviours that match with the company Ethos values and vision

  • Good organisational and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines

Experience

  • Experience supporting turbomachinery, in a Service environment
  • Multi-disciplined (Mech/Controls/E&I) preferable – although Controls is primary focus
  • NVQ/SVQ/NC (or equivalent) or Time Served
  • UKOOA Medical
  • Basic Offshore Survival Training Certificate
  • CompEX Certification desirable.

Education Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable / equivalent

Physical Requirements

  • Class B driving licence
  • Ability to travel and work offshore

Successful applicants will need to evidence proof of Right To Work in UK and pass a pre-employment medical to offshore standards, including drug & alcohol testing
