Are you an experienced field sales professional with a mechanical, engineering, fabrication or industrial background?
Our client is an established and highly regarded supplier to the industrial, manufacturing and engineering sectors. Due to continued development, they are looking to appoint a Technical Field Sales Executive to manage and grow an established customer territory across North and Central Scotland.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being out in the field, meeting customers face-to-face and building long-term commercial relationships.
You do not need to be an engineer. However, you should be mechanically minded, comfortable in workshops and industrial environments, and able to understand how customers operate and where appropriate products and solutions can add value. Full product and technical training will be provided.
The Role
Working autonomously across your territory, you will be responsible for managing existing customers while proactively developing new business.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and growing an established portfolio of customers across the Central belt and North of Scotland
- Developing new business through regular customer visits, networking and proactive field sales activity
- Building strong relationships with customers across fabrication, welding, manufacturing and industrial environments
- Visiting workshops, engineering facilities, fabrication shops and customer sites
- Understanding customers' processes, challenges and requirements
- Identifying opportunities to provide appropriate products, equipment and technical solutions
- Demonstrating products and solutions where required, following full training
- Preparing, presenting and following up quotations and proposals
- Developing repeat business and increasing customer spend
- Acting as a key link between customers and internal sales, technical and operational teams
- Maintaining accurate customer, opportunity and sales information within the CRM system
- Managing your own diary, customer visits and territory effectively

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
