Permanent contract - £32,578 – £36,581 per annum.
About You
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and proactive finance professional to join our hard-working and friendly team. You will support our Principal Accountant in preparing capital budgets, closing the capital accounts, completing government returns, and maintaining the capital programme.
Ideally you will be AAT qualified or a part-qualified accountant with experience in the preparation and management of capital budgets and closure of accounts in a busy organisation. You will be able to work independently, providing advice to officers, and also work well as part of a team. You will be a quick learner, able to pick up complex accounting concepts, and take responsibility for areas of work such as Community Infrastructure Levy and VAT. Experience of VAT would be especially helpful.
No candidate will meet every single desired qualification so if your experience looks a little different from what we’ve identified and you think you can bring value to the role, we’d love to learn more about you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
