WHAT IS ON OFFER
Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Graduate to join our team here in Liverpool.
The Alfred H Knight (AHK) Technical Department provides comprehensive, professional and multi-disciplinary experience to strategically develop, lead and provide operational support for AHK’s global inspection business in the mining, metals and minerals industries. This includes weighing and sampling of metal and mineral cargoes, and the preparation and moisture determination of samples prior to laboratory analysis. The Technical Department also provides guidance and support to the AHK Group on a range of technical matters, such as draught surveys, radiation surveys, audits, mineral processing, mineralogy, conflict materials, fraud, and coordinates a variety of consultancy projects.
As a Technical Graduate, your day-to-day responsibilities will include supporting technical investigations and operational audits, analysing data, preparing reports, evaluating weighing and sampling procedures, and developing practical solutions to technical and operational challenges. You will work alongside experienced colleagues through a structured training programme, taking on more responsibility as you gain knowledge and experience.
As an international company, AHK offers frequent opportunities for international travel, giving you practical experience of different commodities, processes and working environments. You will also develop an understanding of the technical and commercial importance of independent inspection and analysis in global commodity trading.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Required Competencies
- Self-motivated to work with initiative in a dynamic work environment with changing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and inform others.
- Demonstrates a proactive approach to continuous learning, developing knowledge and skills, and applying learning effectively in practice.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy and precision.
- Applies analytical skills to investigate and resolve enquiries and challenge assumptions constructively.
- Strong team player with a collaborative work ethic and can also work independently.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite applications.
- Interest in mining, metals and minerals industries, commodities and international trade.
- Evidence-based approach to problem-solving.
- Quality/auditing knowledge is advantageous.
Required Work Experience
This is a graduate role and therefore relevant work experience, such as in the mining, metals and minerals industries, is desirable but not essential.

Required Qualifications
- Have a degree/diploma/qualification showing an ability to learn to a high level.
- A background or education in a related subject, such as Mineral Processing, Geology, Chemistry, Metallurgy, Mining Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
- A UK driving licence is desired.
- An additional language or the ability and desire to learn new languages (Spanish, Mandarin, and French are preferred).
Travel
AHK is a global organisation and international travel is an essential part of this role. Travel will predominantly involve visits to key industrial sites and global metals and minerals trading hubs. This may include various locations such as mines, ports, warehouses, refineries, processing plants, laboratories, vaults and offices, as follows:
- Short duration (two days to one week), at short notice (24-48 hours).
- Medium duration (one week up to three weeks), may be occasionally required.
- Longer term (several months), depending on business requirements.
- Occasional evening and weekend work at short notice may be required.
