About The Role
Technical Instructor
National Hyperbaric Centre, Aberdeen
Full-time, Permanent

The Role
The Technical Instructor delivers both classroom-based and practical training to customers across a range of technical subjects, including the operation, maintenance, and servicing of JFD products and diving equipment such as helmets, regulators, rebreathers, and diver reclaim systems. The role also provides service, maintenance, and technical support for diving systems and equipment, ensuring safe and effective operation in line with industry best practice.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deliver engaging classroom and practical training, using effective teaching and assessment methods to ensure learners gain the knowledge, skills, and understanding required.
- Continuously maintain and develop your technical expertise by keeping up to date with product documentation, industry guidance, and relevant legislation.
- Review and enhance training content to ensure courses reflect industry best practice and the latest technical developments.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and internal stakeholders to develop new training courses and expand JFD's training capability.
- Prepare, maintain, and update training materials, resources, and equipment to support an effective learning experience.
- Ensure sufficient course materials, tools, and supplies are available for students to maximise participation and practical learning opportunities.
What We're Looking For
- Mechanical engineering qualification or equivalent technical background.
- Experience as a Dive Technician, with offshore experience considered advantageous.
- Proven experience maintaining diving equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Strong working knowledge of diving equipment, including helmets, regulators, rebreathers, diver reclaim systems, and associated life-support equipment.
- Good understanding of industry guidance and best practice, including IMCA and IOGP standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage and present to small groups.
- A passion for sharing knowledge and supporting the development of the next generation of dive technicians.
- Training or instructional experience is desirable; however, full training can be provided for candidates with the right technical expertise, enthusiasm, and ability to communicate complex information effectively.
