Technical Designer
Location: Fareham (Office-based)
We are an established workplace design-and-build business, and we are looking for a skilled Technical Designer to join our team. If you love bringing commercial interior projects to life and want to lead the technical side of exciting designs, we would love to hear from you.
About the Role
In this role, you will be the bridge between creative ideas and real-world construction. You will work closely with our Design Director and the wider project team from the early concept stages all the way through to construction and as-built packs.
We trust our team to take ownership, so you will have the independence to manage your own workload and protect the design intent, cost, and timeline of each project.
What you will be doing day-to-day:
- Bring concepts to life: Turn creative sketches and design ideas into detailed, buildable technical drawings and construction packages.
- Coordinate the details: Bring together architectural, structural, and building-services information so everything fits perfectly.
- Solve puzzles: Lead technical reviews to spot and fix construction risks or design challenges early on.
- Keep things accurate: Review supplier drawings, complete site surveys, and make sure all documentation is highly accurate.
- Collaborate: Chat regularly with clients, consultants, suppliers, contractors, and our internal teams.
- Support the team: Help our estimator by gathering quotes and putting together clear project scopes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
