Recann is partnering with a growing technology business operating at the intersection of software, health, fitness and performance to appoint a Technical Lead.
This is an opportunity for an experienced Technical Lead or Senior Engineer who still enjoys being hands-on, but wants broader ownership across architecture, engineering standards, delivery and technical leadership.
You’ll work across a portfolio of real-world technology projects for businesses ranging from ambitious growth companies through to larger multi-site operators.
Rather than owning one product or codebase, you could be moving between different technical challenges, clients and stages of delivery. From helping shape requirements with stakeholders to making architectural decisions, reviewing pull requests and supporting engineers.
What you'll be doing
- Leading technical delivery across 1-3 engineering pods and client engagements
- Designing scalable, containerised architectures on AWS
- Building secure backend services and APIs using TypeScript
- Working extensively with AWS ECS, RDS, ElastiCache and AWS CDK
- Integrating payment platforms and third-party APIs
- Establishing strong CI/CD, trunk-based development and engineering practices
- Reviewing code and setting consistent technical standards across teams
- Mentoring engineers and supporting future recruitment as the team grows
- Working directly with customers as a trusted technical lead
- Using modern AI development tooling including Cursor and Claude Code as part of the day-to-day engineering workflow
- Helping evolve the engineering model, tooling and technical foundations as the business scales

What we're looking for
You’ll ideally have:
- Strong commercial TypeScript and AWS experience
- Previous experience as a Technical Lead or highly experienced Senior Engineer
- Strong SQL and data modelling knowledge
- AWS CDK / Infrastructure as Code experience
- Experience building containerised and/or serverless architectures
- Strong API and third-party integration experience
- Experience integrating payment platforms such as Stripe
- CI/CD and trunk-based development experience
- Experience mentoring or leading engineers
- The ability to translate commercial requirements into pragmatic technical solutions
- Confidence working directly with non-technical and technical stakeholders
- Experience using LLMs or AI-assisted development tooling as part of your engineering workflow

Experience within fitness technology, health-tech, SaaS or other high-volume consumer platforms would be particularly interesting, but isn't essential.
