POWWR Technical Lead Opportunity

POWWR are looking for an experienced Technical Lead to join our UK engineering team and help drive the design, development, and delivery of POWWR’s SaaS energy marketplace platform.

In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll guide a team of engineers spanning front-end, back-end, data, AI assisted development practices, ensuring architectural integrity, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement. You’ll champion DevOps principles - automation, CI/CD, observability, and shared ownership - while mentoring engineers and shaping technical direction across multiple product areas.

You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and designers to build secure, performant, and maintainable applications using a modern.NET and Angular stack hosted in Azure. This is an excellent opportunity for you to really make your mark within a growing and ambitious company.

Who is POWWR?

POWWR provides advanced platforms and simple solutions for over 65 energy suppliers and more than 1,400 brokers across the United Kingdom. It empowers energy suppliers and brokers to grow their businesses and create a transparent, connected journey. The company was previously known as UD Group in the United Kingdom.

What will you be doing?

Our engineering culture is rooted in collaboration, continuous improvement, and a passion for solving complex problems through elegant, scalable solutions. You’ll also be accountable for:

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across the full stack — from front-end UI to back-end services and data integrations.
  • Guide development decisions, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and alignment with POWWR’s platform strategy and product vision.
  • Lead the development of high-performance web applications using Angular,.NET, and Azure services.
  • Champion the effective use of agentic AI development tools across the team, helping engineers apply them responsibly to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and reduce repetitive work.
  • Establish sensible engineering guardrails for AI-assisted development, ensuring generated code is reviewed, tested, secure, maintainable, and aligned with POWWR’s architecture standards.
  • Oversee the design and evolution of robust API layers, ensuring consistency, discoverability, and strong contract boundaries across services.
  • Champion DevOps culture by embedding CI/CD pipelines, automation, and observability into team workflows.
  • Contribute to and evolve POWWR’s event-driven architecture, leveraging Kafka and MassTransit to enable scalable, decoupled, and observable services.
  • Partner with UX and product teams to deliver intuitive, accessible, and responsive user experiences.
  • Guide the implementation of scalable front-end architecture patterns such as micro frontends and shared Angular workspaces (NX) to support modular, cross-team development.
  • Drive engineering quality through code reviews, automated testing, and test-driven development (TDD).
  • Contribute to cross-team technical initiatives such as shared libraries, security standards, and design system evolution.
  • Participate in agile planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, security best practices, and regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR).

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
