Technical Lead / Software Development Manager – Full-time, Permanent
Location: East Kilbride/Glasgow, Scotland (hybrid working)
Salary: Up to £85,000 per annum DOE + Benefits
The Opportunity:
The best Technical Lead / Software Development Manager roles strike a balance between still being close enough to the code to solve engineering problems, but also influencing architecture, mentoring developers, and helping shape the direction of the platform.
Unfortunately, the reality is that many experienced engineers find themselves spending more time firefighting than improving systems, attending meetings instead of building software, or being responsible for technical outcomes without having influence over the decisions that matter.

What the Technical Lead / Software Development Manager Will Do:
This Technical Lead role combines software engineering with technical leadership. You'll work closely with developers, Product, QA, and DevOps to deliver high-quality software while helping the wider team grow.
You'll be responsible for:
- Leading the design and development of scalable cloud-native software solutions
- Influencing architecture, engineering standards, and technical decision-making
- Mentoring developers and supporting their technical and professional development
- Championing code quality, security, testing, resilience, and continuous improvement
- Collaborating across Engineering, Product, and QA to deliver complex software solutions
- Helping shape the future direction of the engineering function as the business continues to evolve
What You’ll Bring:
We're looking for an experienced Technical Lead, Lead Software Engineer, or Senior Full Stack Developer who enjoys solving complex technical problems while helping others succeed through strategic and supportive leadership.

You'll ideally have:
- Strong commercial experience developing software with Java, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript
- Experience building modern web applications using React, Next.js, and cloud-native architectures
- A good understanding of AWS, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and modern engineering practices
- Experience designing secure, scalable, and resilient enterprise software solutions
- Previous experience leading technical decisions, mentoring developers, and influencing engineering best practice
- The confidence to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
