Technical Lead

Location: London (Fitzrovia) | Hybrid (1 day per week in the office)

Salary: £115,000 + Annual Bonus + Growth Shares

We're partnering with a fast-growing FinTech that is transforming the mortgage market through innovative technology and exceptional engineering. Following significant growth and continued investment in its platform, they are looking to hire a Technical Lead to play a key role in shaping the future of their engineering capability.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll combine technical excellence with architectural influence. Working closely with Engineering, Product and Business stakeholders, you'll help design, build and scale core products while raising engineering standards across the organisation.

You'll remain actively involved in software development, mentoring engineers, reviewing code and driving best practices, while helping shape technical direction in a collaborative and pragmatic way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build and deploy scalable production software solutions.
  • Lead technical discussions and influence architecture decisions.
  • Develop high-quality code across backend and frontend services.
  • Build secure, reliable and maintainable cloud-native applications.
  • Develop AI-powered tools for brokers and underwriters.
  • Build and productionise LLM, RAG and agentic AI capabilities.
  • Support and mentor engineers through code reviews and technical coaching.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Champion engineering best practices across testing, security, CI/CD and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience with Python.
  • Experience with React (TypeScript), Django and FastAPI.
  • Strong AWS cloud and application development experience.
  • Expertise building APIs, distributed systems and scalable applications.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Docker, Git and CI/CD.
  • Proven technical leadership and mentoring experience.
  • FinTech or Financial Services experience would be advantageous.
