Technical leadership in deep-tech robotics - exploring interest, not actively hiring yet
I'm having early conversations on behalf of a profitable, independent, deep-tech robotics company near London that is about to formally define a Technical Lead-level hire.
Nothing is live yet - this is genuine market mapping before a role is built, and I would love to hear from people who might be a fit whether or not the timing works.
The organisation has decades of hardware credibility and is now building out the layer above it - AI, control systems and the software that turns hardware into a real customer solution.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
They are not looking for a robotics specialist.
They are looking for someone who can:
- Bridge a hardware platform through to a working, commercial solution,
- Bring your zero-to-one (or pre-zero product/solution engineering dev experience),
- Partner with the product lead and project manager to make the solution happen,
- Hold your own technically with an experienced engineering team, and;
- Make pragmatic calls under real business constraints rather than chase the most interesting engineering problem.

If any of this resonates - whether you have taken a product from zero to something real inside a startup, or led new product or platform work inside a larger organisation - I would value a conversation.
No pitch, no vacancy details, just understanding what is out there and what would genuinely move someone right now.
Both full-time and part-time/fractional arrangements are being considered, so please do not rule yourself out on that basis alone.
Drop me a message or feel free to send your CV, and I will follow up with you directly.
