Unreal Engine Technical Lead – Glasgow, Bristol, Surrey, London or Greater Manchester – Hybrid - Permanent 37.5 hours per week – £60,000 - £70,000

This is not a small pond. The team is growing its real-time visualisation capability and needs someone exceptional to lead it.

To be considered, you'll need deep, proven experience developing real-time applications in Unreal Engine, advanced Blueprint skills, and a solid grasp of C++ for extending and optimising systems. You'll also need a track record of leading technical teams, delivering VR and immersive solutions, and the commercial savvy to support project scoping and business development.

Working Patterns and location – Hybrid – 3 days on site per week

The Key Responsibilities of an Unreal Engine Technical Lead:

  • Define and lead the real-time visualisation strategy across the Creative Design team.
  • Lead Unreal Engine development for interactive, immersive and digital twin solutions.
  • Establish technical standards, scalable workflows and best practice frameworks.
  • Mentor team members and build technical capability across the discipline.
  • Support project scoping, estimation, business development and work-winning activities.
  • Manage OKRs, resource planning, performance and succession planning for the team.
  • Drive innovation and adoption of emerging real-time and immersive technologies.
  • Ensure consistent quality, performance and client satisfaction across all deliveries.

Key Skills required for an Unreal Engine Technical Lead:

  • Extensive experience developing real-time applications in Unreal Engine (UE5 preferred).
  • Advanced Blueprint development, gameplay systems and interaction framework expertise.
  • Strong understanding of Unreal Engine architecture with working knowledge of C++.
  • Proven leadership of technical teams and track record of capability development.
  • Experience delivering VR, immersive and interactive visualisation solutions.
  • Knowledge of digital twins, data-driven visualisation and scalable framework design.
  • Commercial awareness including project scoping, estimation and delivery planning.
  • Strong mentoring, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred, but not essential:

  • Experience working within AEC, infrastructure or engineering sectors.
  • Experience integrating BIM, GIS, Cesium or IoT data into Unreal Engine.
  • Knowledge of AR, MR and WebXR technologies.
  • Experience delivering WebGL, WebXR or browser-based 3D visualisation solutions.
  • Working knowledge of Unity and application migration strategies.
  • Previous line management or discipline leadership experience in a creative or technical team.
