The Role
Most technology roles ask you to join something already built and keep it running. This one is different. We're building a platform that will power the next chapter of our growth - we call it OneGC. It's the technology engine behind how our lawyers work, how they collaborate, how clients experience us, and how we scale. We've started, and need the right people to help us build.
OneGC is a cloud-native platform built to support a rapidly scaling professional services business. High-quality software that real lawyers depend on every day - for onboarding, collaboration, insight, and performance. As we grow, so does the complexity, the data, and the need for the platform to be genuinely excellent.
The point is building scalable, maintainable, high-quality software in a domain where what you build matters to the people using it.
You'll be the primary developer on the OneGC platform. You'll work alongside a small, skilled delivery team.
You'll be part of deciding what gets built, how it gets built, and what good looks like. We are looking for a senior engineer who cares about the craft. Someone who writes code they’re proud to put their name against. Thinks about maintainability, scalability, and quality as defaults and not optional extras.
The ideal candidate will be resilient, commercially driven, and champion our culture and values being Compassionomics, Laser-like Focus, Humour, and being Boundaryless.
Responsibilities
- Lead the internal development of OneGC.
- Own the day-to-day technical direction of the platform.
- Manage and coordinate internal developers, contractors and external suppliers.
- Set and maintain coding, testing, documentation and release standards.
- Review technical designs, code quality and supplier deliverables.
- Maintain the development roadmap, technical-debt backlog and engineering priorities.
- Ensure OneGC is secure, reliable, scalable and supportable.
- Oversee integrations with Elite 3E, Intapp Documents and other 3rd party systems.
- Establish effective development, testing, deployment and production-support processes.
- Build the internal engineering capability and recommend future hires.
- Work closely with Product, Architecture, Finance, Compliance and Operations.

The Person
Experience
- Strong professional software-development experience.
- Experience leading the development of production business systems.
- Ability to read, review and improve an existing codebase.
- Experience with APIs, system integrations, databases and data models.
- Understanding of automated testing, deployment and production support.
- Knowledge of security, authentication and access control.
- Experience managing developers, contractors and technology suppliers.
- Strong technical judgement and problem-solving skills.
- Able to set practical coding and engineering standards.
- Able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable balancing delivery speed, quality, cost and risk.
- Experience working in an Agile delivery environment, ideally within a hybrid team blending in-house and supplier resources.
- Experience working with sensitive or regulated data is desirable.
- Legal technology, finance systems or professional-services experience is desirable.
Skills and Abilities
- Frontend – Angular, React, Typescript etc
- Backend -.NET, C#, REST API design, Azure Function Apps
- Integrations – REST APIs, OData, webhooks (Elite 3E, Intapp Documents, Legl)
- Database - SQL Server and relational data modelling
- Security - authentication and authorisation (e.g. OAuth2 / OpenID Connect, JWT)
- Clear and concise written and spoken communication skills.
- Excellent listening skills with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
- Client service oriented.
- Great attention to detail.
- A calm, professional, welcoming approach with the ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to plan and control activities to meet objectives.
- Be very people oriented – want to be helpful and sort things out for people.
- Be a good team player demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the firm and your team.
