DIFY | London / Hybrid | Full-Time | £36,000 + 2% Equity | Starting January 2027

DIFY is building software for the UK driving instruction market, combining learner discovery and booking with operational infrastructure for independent instructors and driving schools.

Following the development of our early product externally, we are beginning the transition towards stronger internal technical ownership.

We are looking for a Technical Lead who can take responsibility for DIFY's technology, work closely with the founder on product direction and build the internal engineering capability required to scale the company.

What you'll own

  • Technical ownership of the DIFY platform.
  • Understanding, documenting and taking control of the existing codebase and infrastructure.
  • Managing releases, bugs, technical debt and platform reliability.
  • Translating business and product priorities into technical execution.
  • Reviewing architecture and identifying what needs to change as DIFY scales.
  • Managing integrations, APIs, payments, analytics and third-party services.
  • Working with external development partners where required.
  • Establishing development standards, documentation and deployment processes.
  • Recruiting and managing future engineers.
  • Advising the founder on technical strategy, build-vs-buy decisions and infrastructure.
  • Developing DIFY's technical roadmap as the product expands into driving-school and white-label infrastructure.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Who we're looking for

We want someone technically strong who also understands that an early-stage Technical Lead cannot operate in isolation from the business.

You should be comfortable moving between architecture, code, product conversations and practical problem-solving.

Experience with mobile applications, marketplaces, SaaS, APIs, cloud infrastructure or payment systems would be particularly useful.

Previous startup experience is valuable but not essential.

You should be excited by the idea of taking ownership of the technical function rather than simply joining an established engineering team.

Progression

This role is intended to develop into senior technical leadership as DIFY grows.

For the right person who demonstrates both technical leadership and the ability to build an engineering function, there is a potential pathway to Chief Technology Officer within approximately 12 months.

This is performance-dependent and not guaranteed by tenure.

Compensation

  • £3,000 per month / £36,000 per year
  • 2% equity in DIFY

The equity award will vest over 4 years, vesting quarterly, with a 1-year cliff.

This is an early-stage leadership role. The cash compensation reflects DIFY's current stage, while the equity is intended to give the successful candidate meaningful ownership in the company they are helping to build.
