Tech Lead | Remote First | Up to £130k
We're partnering with a high-growth fintech that is investing heavily in its engineering and data capabilities following a period of significant business growth.
As the company enters its next phase, they're looking for a hands-on Tech Lead to help shape the future of their data platform, drive engineering excellence, and support a growing team.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, influencing technical direction, and mentoring engineers, while remaining heavily involved in delivery.
The Role
You'll work closely with senior technology leadership to define the future of the company's data platform and engineering practices. This is a genuine player-coach role, combining technical leadership with hands-on engineering responsibility.
You'll help guide architectural decisions, improve platform capabilities, mentor engineers, and ensure the business can make better use of its data as it continues to scale.

What You'll Be Doing
- Providing technical leadership across the data platform
- Designing and building scalable data solutions
- Driving engineering best practices and technical standards
- Working closely with Product and Engineering leadership on platform strategy
- Mentoring and supporting engineers across the team
- Remaining actively involved in hands-on development and delivery
- Helping shape the adoption of AI and emerging technologies where appropriate
- Contributing to architecture, tooling and platform evolution
Tech Stack
We're looking for experience across most of the following:
- BigQuery or Snowflake
- GCP, Azure or AWS
- SQL
- Python
- Modern cloud-based data platforms
- Data modelling and data architecture
What We're Looking For
- Strong Data Engineering background
- Experience operating as a Tech Lead, Lead Engineer, Staff Engineer or Principal Engineer
- Comfortable balancing hands-on delivery with technical leadership
- Experience mentoring or leading small engineering teams
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Pragmatic approach to engineering and delivery
- Positive attitude towards AI adoption and innovation
