Technical Lead – Full Stack Engineering | Private Equity

Siena Partnership is working exclusively with a leading pan-European private equity firm to appoint a permanent Technical Lead into its internal engineering team in London.

This is a senior player-coach position with genuine ownership of a business-critical internal platform. Although titled Technical Lead, the scope is broader than a conventional lead developer role, combining hands-on software engineering, architecture, technical leadership, product ownership and senior stakeholder engagement.

The successful candidate will take end-to-end ownership of an established internal platform used to manage legal entities, ownership structures, governance, compliance and operational workflows across the organisation.

The platform replaces fragmented spreadsheets and disconnected systems with a central, auditable source of truth, supporting teams across legal, compliance, tax, operations and investment/deal functions.

What you’ll be doing

  • Own the architecture and technical direction of a modern full-stack application.
  • Remain genuinely hands-on, designing, building, reviewing and shipping production software.
  • Lead and mentor a small, high-performing engineering team.
  • Own the underlying relational data model and how data is reconciled across multiple internal and external sources.
  • Take responsibility for engineering standards, automated testing, CI/CD, code quality and production reliability.
  • Own delivery planning, prioritisation and technical roadmap.
  • Work directly with senior stakeholders across legal, compliance, tax, operations and investment teams.
  • Translate complex business processes and regulatory requirements into well-designed software.
  • Help develop the team's use of AI-assisted engineering across the software delivery lifecycle.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Core experience

You should be a strong full-stack software engineer who has progressed into technical leadership without moving away from hands-on engineering.

Strong experience with React and TypeScript is essential, alongside good backend engineering capability. The backend technology is flexible, but experience with languages such as Python, Node.js, C#/.NET or Java would be relevant.

You should also have strong experience with SQL, relational databases and data modelling, particularly where applications depend on data quality, reconciliation, auditability and integration between multiple systems.

We are particularly interested in people who have:

  • Led a small engineering or cross-functional product team while remaining hands-on.
  • Owned a complex application or platform end to end.
  • Worked closely with senior non-technical business stakeholders.
  • Strong CI/CD, testing and modern DevOps engineering practices.
  • Used AI tools to improve software engineering and delivery.
  • Worked within private equity, private markets, investment management, asset management, hedge funds, fintech or another regulated environment.

Experience with master data, reference data, legal/entity data, investment data, reconciliation, enterprise integrations or replacing spreadsheet-based processes with controlled applications would be particularly valuable.

This is not a pure Engineering Manager, Enterprise Architect or frontend leadership position. The successful candidate will remain close to the code while also owning the wider platform, team and technical direction.
