Job Title: Technical Lead (Hands-On, Client-Facing)
Location: Central Cardiff – Hybrid (3 days in the office, 2 days from home)
Salary: Circa £70,000 depending on experience, with equity open to discussion
About the Role
Our client is a small, growing digital consultancy in central Cardiff. All new work is serverless on AWS using TypeScript, Node and React, backed by a strong AWS relationship and a cloud consultancy that supports the infrastructure. Older projects are WordPress and CMS-based, and the team uses Cursor and AI assistance daily. The work is mainly new project delivery, in a lean, supportive team with a family feel and a calm, well-run working environment.
The role covers the whole of technical delivery: hands-on coding, leading the developers, client contact and planning with the MD. That is a wider remit than leading a single project or team, and for the right person the MD is prepared to discuss equity and share ownership.
The company has recently won a project with one of the UK's leading sports organisations, is winning further work with sports clubs, and has its own CRM and learning management platform that can be used in other industries, with partners in place to sell it.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
